V rámci programu Epicentra civilizace Strategie AV21 prezentoval Mgr. Tomáš Moravec, Ph.D. z Ústavu experimentální botaniky AV ČR dne 23. 10. 2025 výzkum zaměřený na GB-tools for gene editing (IGPPP) v Moldavském Kišiněvu.
The discovery of CRISPR/Cas9 (GoldenBraid (GB) system, a collection of software tools and DNA parts used for CRISPR-Cas9 based gene editing, especially in plants) sparked a new revolution in plant research. It also has the potential to transform plant breeding. In fact, even the EU, which is skeptical of improved breeding techniques, seems to allow its use in plant breeding. The GoldenBraid toolbox was presented here, which is designed for generating gene-editing constructs in low-resource settings.
